Here are a couple of hints and tips to help make it easier to complete your pom pom bug kits.
I always start at the bottom of the kit with the feet. Foam is always a good start for feet. You can cut out any shape or size and just glue to the bottom of your body pom pom.
Use a pencil (this works better than a pen) to draw your shape and then use scissors to cut out. If there is any pencil lines left on the foam shape, turn the shape over so the pencil is on the underside.
If you are cutting a lot of feet out for a group activity it may be best to write the child’s name on the bottom. Saves any confusion later on.
Smaller pom poms are also good for feet. These can just be glued to the bottom of the pom pom body. IIt's always best to trim the body pom pom just a little on one side before gluing the foam feet on. This will help it to sit flat and straight and not roll away while you're waiting for it to dry.
When attaching eyes, noses, ears etc, put the glue on the body pom pom where you want the bits and pieces to go. It's easier to place small things onto a blob of glue than trying to put a small item covered in glue onto the pom pom.
Some of our pom pom kits come with cardboard or paper arms. These are easy to stick just follow these easy tips. Gently part the pom pom so that you can see the centre. Put a small blob of glue into the centre and push the arms in onto the glue. Once dry fluff the pom pom back into shape to hide the centre and glue.
We have a nice selection of pom pom kits available and we are always adding new designs. See our pom pom section in the craft kits for ideas. |
